Bay Union Corporate Risks has its roots in the management of risk and the evaluation of the best solutions to address and finance these risks. This is necessary as insurance covers will typically provide solutions for less than 50% of the risks facing a business.

At Bay Union we strive to develop applications and solutions that address business concerns at all levels:

Shareholders' needs are paramount, with balance sheet protection and strategic issues being addressed.

At an operational level, we deal with, amongst other matters, business continuity, supplier and customer dependencies and protection of intellectual property.

Risks at all levels are evaluated according to their likely probability and severity impact on the business.

Our departure point, therefore, is to understand and assess the operational and strategic risks facing each one of our clients. This then forms the basis to ascertaining not only what covers to purchase, but the level of cover required. Alternative financial solutions are available to assist in financing risks that insurers will typically not underwrite.

For any financial solution to be sustainable, there has to be a strong base of quality risk management in place. We assist in evaluating this and in providing improvement recommendations.

Our service model is customised for each client to ensure that we are user-friendly, accurate and informative, without cutting corners.

Compliance matters are always non-negotiable and these are detailed in our service level agreements.With the local and global pressure on risk underwriters to deliver improved performance, we believe that a strong shift to clients managing their risks more proactively has gathered momentum and will continue to do so. The insurer's focus will be to provide cover for losses of a sudden and unforeseeable nature.

Our products and solutions address risk issues and are supported by the appropriate technical skills, accountability and personal familiarity with our clients'' needs.

People are our business and, in servicing the healthcare needs of people in our community, we recognise the importance of building and maintaining relationships with employees, suppliers and our clients.

The choice of the medical aid best suited to an employer or individual can be complex and we aim to simplify this process.

Our healthcare department is accredited with the Council for Medical Schemes, and we provide an independent, in-depth outlook on products best suited to your healthcare requirements.

We extend our service to companies by conducting product and member education presentations to their staff, ensuring their full understanding of the different medical scheme options that are available.

We assist with administrative support for the submission, handling and processing of the application forms and problematic claims and queries.

As mentioned previously, we are independent and market an array of medical schemes, for example, Discovery Health, Momentum Health, Oxygen and Spectramed to mention a few.

As a licensed financial services provider we comply with the FAIS Act and abide by that Act's Code of Good Conduct.

Bay Union Employee Benefit Consultants (Pty) Ltd is an authorised Financial Services Provider - License No. 7969. Our compliance function is outsourced to Moonstone Compliance (Pty) Ltd. We are also a member of FIA - The Financial Intermediaries Association of Southern Africa, an organisation that represents intermediaries like ourselves.
